This workshop will examine two movements of the Trio in G minor Opus 1 no. 3 for 3 recorders (flutes) by Johann Mattheson.
The two movements, Prelude-adagio and Chaconne, will be used to highlight pattern recognition, pitch proximity and note grouping, tempo choice and articulation to aid in expressing character.
Following on from the Fundamentals series, trills will be examined regarding the choice of starting the trill on the note above the written note or on the main note.

What You'll Learn

How to choose on which note the trills start.
How to decide on an appropriate tempo.
How to apply the rules of pitch proximity.

Prerequisites

Although the ability to play up to 2 octaves would be beneficial, this workshop will help non-players in developing their critical listening skills.

What You'll Need

All music and workshop notes are provided with versions for both alto and descant/tenor fingerings.
Materials will be uploaded prior to the event and can be downloaded by clicking the Materials button.
